Couples’ meeting
An evening for couples, with a theme, conversation around tables, and a team caring for the children at the same time.
For: married and engaged couples, and those building a serious relationship.Meetings for couples, for men, and for women throughout the year, with a team caring for the children at the same time.
New Hope Family brings together couples, men, and women from Orlando’s Brazilian community in meetings spread throughout the year, not on a fixed day of the week. It is the family ministry of a Presbyterian church, so the emphasis is on the home as part of the life of the congregation. Each meeting has its own theme and is announced on the church calendar. At the couples’ meetings, a team cares for the children at the same time.
“…as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
Joshua 24:15 (NIV)
New Hope believes the church is a large extended family, and New Hope Family exists to live that out in practice. It is the network that forms among Brazilian couples who live in the same city, send their children to the same schools, and celebrate the same holidays.
That is why New Hope Family meetings are conversations around a table, not lectures. People sit together, talk about what they are going through, and leave knowing other couples by name. Many of the oldest friendships in the church began at one of these tables.
Parents can give the meeting their full attention, and the children spend the evening with people they already know from Sunday.
The meetings
An evening for couples, with a theme, conversation around tables, and a team caring for the children at the same time.
For: married and engaged couples, and those building a serious relationship.A group of men talking about work, fatherhood, money, and faith, plainly and without an audience.
For: any man, from the church or from outside it.A meeting for women, with room to talk about what rarely fits into a Sunday conversation.
For: any woman, from the church or from outside it.A church shaped like a family
Because New Hope recognizes the home as one of the places where faith is learned most. It is at home that a child sees prayer happen, that a marriage becomes a testimony, and that values pass from one generation to the next. New Hope Family exists to strengthen that.
Throughout the year
New Hope Family meetings are announced on the calendar and in the weekly email. Subscribe to hear about the next one.
