Church calendar
Beyond the Sunday service and the Wednesday gathering, New Hope, a Brazilian Presbyterian church in Orlando, comes together throughout the year for couples’ gatherings, work days, special services, and outdoor mornings. All of them are open to anyone who wants to come.
Calendar
September is the month New Hope celebrates its 27th anniversary, and there is more on the calendar after it. These are the upcoming gatherings, from the nearest date to the furthest out.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”
Acts 2:42 (NIV)
A meeting of the whole church leadership to align, plan, and move forward together on the next steps for New Hope.
The Sunday that closes out the anniversary month, with preaching by Pastor Augustus Nicodemus and a snack bar served after the service.
An evening prepared for the business owners of the church, men and women, with a talk by Pastor José Maria.
A day with Pastors Shaiane Vicente and Aline Costa. Breakfast, lunch, and childcare are included. Registration is $25, through the church website.
Xandy and Giovanna come to share what God has been doing through their lives and their ministry, in a service dedicated to missions.
For the first time New Hope hosts the Faith & Science Summit: two days, Friday and Saturday, to think together about the relationship between the Christian faith and science.
The church year
Beyond the calendar that changes, New Hope has a yearly calendar of its own that is already part of the life of the congregation.
A whole night of prayer and worship, with the church gathered until dawn.
The most important week of the Christian calendar, with a special service on Resurrection Sunday.
A Sunday dedicated to autism awareness, with the whole church dressed in blue.
The Sunday when New Hope Kids leads the service, from worship to taking part on stage.
A week of activities for children during the school break, with a new theme each year.
A celebration of the date New Hope was organized, in 1999, with the congregation gathered together.
A Thanksgiving service, with a shared table for the congregation and the American tradition the church has adopted.
A Christmas service with the choir and the children taking part, and a celebration as a church family.
The turn of the year with the church gathered in prayer, closing one year and beginning the next together.
Each of these dates goes on the calendar with a confirmed day and time as soon as the church finalizes the schedule.
Every week
Every Tuesday a single summary goes out, with Sunday’s sermon and the gatherings coming up. One email a week, in Portuguese or English.
